Mrs. Chloe, Mr. Odom, Mrs. Drinnon, and Mrs. Needham from first grade at JRP have been learning about Cats and Dogs. Each student was given the opportunity to pick their animal to study. Then, they watched a fact video and read a book about Cats and Dogs. Each student then filled out a TIDE organizer with their facts about their animal. They wrote a paragraph using the information from their TIDE organizer. Because of their hard work learning about their animal, we had a pet adoption day. Each student was able to “adopt” a cat or dog and received a certificate of adoption signed by Ms. Seals or Mr. Horton.

The Hawkins County School District can receive designated funds each year by the federal government to provide service once agreed upon to students who are eligible to receive special education services. These services include students who are currently being homeschooled or attend a private school in Hawkins County and are eligible for Special Education. The Hawkins County district is required to meet with the administrators of private institutions or parents who are currently home schooling their children in order to discuss what services can be provided.
The Hawkins County School District can provide services for special needs children and young adults, age 3 years to 21 years, who reside within the system's district. Hawkins Elementary custodial team earned the Synergize your Team award for working tirelessly to ensure a welcoming and conducive learning environment for our Bearcats' this year. Their support extended to assisting teachers with the physical setup of their classrooms, including moving furniture, hanging posters, and preparing bulletin boards. Church Hill Middle School 8th grade Science Team was recognized for the Dream Team Award for working exceptionally well together this year to provide students with rigorous activities to support the 8th grade science standards. As a result, they scored in the top 20% in our region on the winter benchmark. #chmsisthebest
Last Chance! Hawkins County School District is excited to offer Summer Learning Camps again this summer for our students who will be Rising 1st-9th graders. Summer Learning Camp will take place for four weeks, four days a week, between May 27 - June 19 from 7:30-2:30 p.m. This camp will focus on rising 1st-grade students through rising 9th-grade students. Parents will be notified of acceptance before the start of summer camp. Transportation will be made available daily. Breakfast and lunch will be served as part of the program. St. Clair Elementary School Special Teams group was awarded with the Resilience Team Award. This team has been working to find ways to support student learning in their classes. Our students are making gains in ELA and Math with their support. It is beautiful to watch and St. Clair Elementary is growing stronger throughout the process.

The State Board of Education Approved Textbooks are available for review on the Tennessee Department of Education website here. In addition, samples can be reviewed on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.at McPheeters Bend School, 1115 Goshen Valley Road, Church Hill.
Parent Teacher Conferences: School will dismiss at 2:00pm on March 13 with conferences beginning at 3:00pm. Please contact your child’s teacher to schedule a conference.
Voluntary Pre-K is available to children whose birthdays fall between August 16, 2020 and August 15, 2021. Spaces are limited and income qualifications apply. Additional inclusive early childhood opportunities are available for preschoolers who do not meet the income requirements.
