A bulk food bag will be available to parents and guardians of children ages 0 to 18, from 3pm to 5pm on Thursday, May 29th , June 5th, June 12th, and June 19th , at Joseph Rogers Primary and at Volunteer High School’s library entrance. Distribution will be on first come, first served basis until gone. Please do not arrive before 2:45pm due to summer school dismissal traffic. TDHS provides financial assistance with child care costs for families meeting income guideline criteria through several child care assistance programs.
The Surgoinsville Elementary School YMCA Afterschool program accepts DHS Child Care Certificates to assist parents/guardians with the weekly child care costs. They may apply online at https://onedhs.tn.gov/csp or contact Hawkins County DHS at 423-601-7001 for help applying for a Child Care Certificate.


The Special Education Team at Carter’s Valley Elementary has worked tirelessly to make sure all meetings have been kept up to date. They have also done this while making sure their students receive the services and support they need. They constantly go above and beyond to help all students our school. Thank you Ms. Veena, Mr. Needham, Ms. Gobble, and Ms. Britton.


Hawkins County Schools will be distributing meals to children ages 0-18 years on Thursday afternoons during Summer Learning Camp. You can visit Joseph Rogers Primary or Volunteer High School to pick up meals. This is a drive thru event.

Wednesday, HCS received a visit from TDOE's Assistant Commissioner of the Division of Coordinated School Health, Lori Paisley, along with Senior Project Manager, Taylor Rayfield and Director of Student and Family Services, Sarah Arnold. Best practices relating to physical, social, and emotional health were shared at Joseph Rogers Primary, Surgoinsville, Middle, Surgoinsville Elementary, and Cherokee High School. HCS District therapy dog, Archie, was able to join the visit.
