This week, Hawkins County Schools kicked off the new academic year with a strong focus on community and collaboration. Students and families were welcomed back with opportunities to meet teachers, tour classrooms, and greet bus drivers, fostering a sense of excitement and familiarity before the first day.
The faculty and staff officially returned on Wednesday, July 30, for a General Meeting. The event featured a comedic guest speaker and set the tone for the year with a powerful challenge: "MISSION POSSIBLE." This initiative reflects the belief that with teamwork and dedication, the 2025-26 school year will be a resounding success. Hawkins County Schools now invites all families and community members to join in this mission, working together to make this year the best and most successful yet.

School begins on Monday, August 4, 2025. Dismissal on the first day will be 11:30am.

Each student may receive one FREE breakfast and one FREE lunch each day. If students wish to purchase extras or a la carte items, they should have cash or money on their meal account. We celebrated our amazing Summer Learning Camp attendees with a super fun attendance incentive! Students who consistently showed up got to enjoy a special trip to Barnes & Noble to pick out a brand new book, then grab some delicious lunch at The Kitchen! Best part? It was all on HCS! A bulk food bag will be available to parents and guardians of children ages 0 to 18, from 3pm to 5pm on Thursday, June 19th , at Joseph Rogers Primary and at Volunteer High School’s library entrance. Distribution will be on first come, first served basis until gone. Please do not arrive before 2:45pm due to summer school dismissal traffic. This is the final summer distribution. This quick form will help us create more accurate bus routes, schedules, and student lists, ensuring your child has a safe and reliable ride to school. This form must be completed each year for every student who plans to ride the bus.

Bobbie Bernard, HES nominated Related Arts Teachers: Lindsee Howard (guidance), Madison Church (art), Katie Brabham (music), Lauren Gladson (STEM), Caleb Hutson (PE), and Becky Redding (Library) The Related Arts team at HES demonstrates exceptional dedication to fostering a thriving learning environment for our Bearcats. Through consistent weekly collaboration, they align their teaching efforts to reinforce key concepts and vocabulary across content areas, based on the standards. Beyond their instructional contributions, this team provides invaluable leadership by coordinating our school-wide positive behavior initiative, 4-H clubs, and monthly celebratory assemblies. Recently, they organized a trip to the movie as a SWPB reward. This highly effective team functions seamlessly, providing consistent support to the other teachers and serving as a vital and integral part of the HES community. #BearcatPride
