Church Hill Middle School kicked off Spirit Week with a fun dress-up day!
Clinch students are in their "Wildcat Era" as they prepare for the dance at Clinch school.
A Green Lockdown (precautionary action where students are kept in classes and exterior of school is closed) was initiated this morning, 9/12 at VHS. This was an action taken out of precaution as law enforcement responded to a rumor. The lockdown lasted less than an hour this morning and did not affect class schedules.
Bus Driver Appreciation
Suspect believed to be responsible for threats against RCS and HCS schools last night, 9/11, has been arrested and is currently in court this morning. School systems across the state are dealing with similar threats this week. Please know we will always take such threats seriously and will support law enforcement and local officials in charging these individuals to the fullest extent of the law.
According to HCSO: A person of interest has been located concerning the social media threats received earlier tonight. Law enforcement agencies have worked together and the investigation is continuing.
No other details or information is available at this time. Hawkins County Schools will have additional resources at school sites in the morning. Thank you for your attention.
Hawkins County Schools has received threats via social media that are spreading quickly. Please know HCS administration, Hawkins County Sheriff’s Department, Rogersville PD, and other agencies are aware of the threats and are currently investigating. Further details will be released when appropriate.
Church Hill Elementary School will be dismissing today, September 3, 2024, at 10:00am due to a water issue. This is only Church Hill Elementary, all other Hawkins County Schools are on a regular schedule.
The Hawkins County Board of Education will have a Town Hall Meeting on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 5:30 pm in the gym at Surgoinsville Middle School.
Topic: The New Bus Routing System
Parents, please know that while we realign bus routes and move to our new routing system, we need your help and patience. This has been a three-year process. All student data we had in our student information system during the summer was used to identify routes and assign drivers. However, as you know, the new school year always brings changes to addresses, phone numbers, late enrollees, and drop off and pick up changes. Please remember, all routes are arranged with priority placed on student safety and route efficiency. Per Board Policy 3.401, “students living within three-tenths (.3) of a mile to an established bus route will be required to walk to said route.” Please call the transportation department with any concerns, questions, or to updates to any student information, especially any address or contact information changes. As a reminder, we did not allow cell phone use in classrooms last year. This year, we will move to not allow cell phones to be used during school. This is in accordance with Board Policy 6.312, which states, “Middle school students’ cell phones and other electronic devices are to be turned off and not visible upon a student’s arrival to school (upon entering the school building) until the end of the student’s school day. High school students are not permitted to use cell phones during or between classes unless it is for academic purposes, under direct supervision of a classroom teacher.” Thank you for your understanding and support.
