Poster Contest
Theme: Your Presence Matters
Eligibility
Open to all Hawkins County Schools students.
Posters will be judged in the following grade spans:
Kindergarten–Grade 2
Grades 3–5
Grades 6–8
Poster Requirements
The poster must prominently include the phrase: "Your Presence Matters."
The poster should focus on the importance of attending school every day.
Posters may be created using any artistic medium (paint, markers, colored pencils, digital art, etc.). Non-digital posters should be created on standard poster board or paper no larger than 22" x 28".
All artwork must be the student's original work–no AI.
Student name, grade, school, and teacher should be listed on the back of the poster. If digital, name, grade, school, and teacher should be included in the file name.
School-Level Selection
Each school will conduct its own contest and select one winning poster for each applicable grade span.
Schools may submit only one poster per grade span to the district competition.
District-Level Judging
District winners will be selected in each grade span based on:
Creativity and originality
Visual appeal
Clear communication of the attendance message
Effective use of the theme "Your Presence Matters"
Overall impact
District Winners
One district winner will be selected in each grade span listed above.
Winning posters may be featured in district publications, on social media, on websites, and in attendance awareness materials. The winner from each grade span will receive a $50 prize sponsored by Mt. Carmel Farm Bureau Insurance.
Public Service Announcement (PSA) Video Contest
Theme: Your Presence Matters
Eligibility
Open to students in grades 9–12.
Individual students or student teams may participate.
Video Requirements
The video must prominently include the phrase: "Your Presence Matters."
The PSA should emphasize the importance of daily school attendance.
Videos must be no longer than 30 seconds in length.
All content must be school-appropriate.
Videos must be the original work of the student(s).
Any music, images, or other media used must be copyright-compliant.
Videos should be submitted in a standard digital format (MP4 preferred).
School-Level Selection
Each high school will conduct its own competition and select one winning PSA.
Each high school may submit one video to the district competition.
District-Level Judging
Videos will be evaluated on:
Creativity and originality
Effectiveness of the attendance message
Clear inclusion of the phrase "Your Presence Matters"
Production quality
Overall impact and audience appeal
District Winner
One district-wide PSA Video Contest winner will be selected.
The winning video may be featured on district websites, social media platforms, school announcements, and other attendance awareness campaigns. The winning student/team will receive a $100 prize sponsored by Mt. Carmel Farm Bureau Insurance.
General Rules for Both Contests
Submission of an entry grants Hawkins County Schools permission to display, reproduce, and use the entry for educational and promotional purposes related to attendance awareness. Please have all school winners submit a release form.
Entries must be submitted by September 30 at 3:00 pm.
District decisions are final.
Entries that do not meet contest requirements may be disqualified.
