For 2025-26, Hawkins County Schools will focus on positive attendance and its impact on student success, now and in the future. We want to partner with you to ensure your child is in school, learning what they need to thrive as adults. Chronically Absent is 10% or more days per school year (excused or unexcused). At 5 or more unexcused absences a meeting with school staff will be scheduled. Students have 5 days to turn in parent and doctor notes. Each student may have 6 parent notes and 10 doctor notes per year. Students with 10 unexcused absences in a row or a total of 15 unexcused absences will lose their driving privileges.

‼️‼️‼️ Please Read‼️‼️‼️ For Monday, August 5th ONLY, we will be using the afternoon route for both morning and afternoon car duty! *Families who do not have a car rider tag, may pick one up Monday morning with proper ID. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• We have had a few questions regarding our drop-off/pickup process for car riders. Below is a diagram for both drop-off and pickup. 🐾 Morning Drop-Off: Families will use the parking lot closest to Food City. Once you turn off of Park Blvd., you will pull straight up to the flag pole and drop your student off there. There will be a teacher on duty to ensure your child gets into the building safely. 🐾 Afternoon Pick-up: Families will use the same parking lot for afternoon duty as they do in the morning. However, once you pull into the parking lot, you will pull to the left and wait in line until your child’s name is called by a staff member on duty. ‼️At HES, safety is our top priority! Therefore, anyone picking up a student in the car rider line, will need a car rider tag. If you do not have a tag, you will be asked to pull over to the main parking lot and go to the office to sign the child out.
