  • You may keep your State dental insurance indefinitely.

  • Upon retirement, Hawkins County Schools will pay certificated personnel $100 for every year of service in Hawkins County Schools up to 20 years. (A total of $2,000 honorarium paid to you in July.)

  • TCRS will give you 1 month of service credit for every 20 unused sick days you have at retirement. This credit is applied to your years of service with TCRS and increases your TCRS benefit, i.e., 10-month employees who have 200 sick days with 29 years of service can retire with 30 years’ service credit.

  • Hawkins County will pay you a bonus for your unused sick days at retirement:

    • 0-100 days - $25.00 per accumulated day

    • 101-200 days - $30.00 per accumulated day

    • 201-300 days - $35.00 per accumulated day

    • 301+ - $40.00 per accumulated day

  • You may qualify for Hawkins County Schools’ Early Retirement Incentive. Hawkins County Schools will pay you 10% of your highest paid year for 7 years or until you reach the age of 62 (whichever comes first). This is in addition to your TCRS benefit.

  • Continuing to work after 30 years of service does not necessarily increase your TCRS benefit unless you experience a substantial increase in salary.

  • If you reach the age of 62 and have 30 years of service, you no longer qualify for the Early Retirement Incentive.
