About Miss Holly, Your Art Teacher

Welcome to art class!  I am the art teacher at McPheeter's Bend and St. Clair Elementary Schools.  My name is Holly Hughes and this is my third year teaching in Hawkins County.  I have lived in Louisiana, Virginia, Wisconsin, Thailand, Germany, Ohio, and Tennessee.

I graduated from Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia in 1990 with a BA degree in Art History and a minor in German .  For many years, I worked in greenhouses growing plants and doing landscape design.  In 2004, I went to graduate school at East Tennessee State University to get a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.  I am certified to teach grades K-8 and art K-12.  Right now, I am working on a Master's of Professional Studies degree with a concentration in Distance Training and Development.

Some of my hobbies are painting, painting, and more painting!  I also love to garden, take photographs, read really great stories, and grow flowers.  My husband, daughter, and I live in Blountville. We have two dachshunds, three cats, and an old beagle named Old Joe!  I love teaching art and treasure everyday I get to share the joy of creative expression with my students.
