How to Organize Your Language Arts Notebook

You will need a one and one half inch notebook and six tabs.  Do NOT keep any other subject’s work in this notebook.

Label the tabs in the following way:

·        Current Work

·        Reading Log

·        Daily Language Practice

·        Vocabulary

·        Notes

·        Returned Work

Current Work (This section is for any work that you are working on.)

Reading Log (Keep your ungraded reading log in this section.)

Daily Language Practice (Keep your ungraded daily language practices in this section.)

Vocabulary ( Keep anything related to vocabulary in this section.)

Notes (You will put notes and important worksheets in this section.  Never throw anything away in this section because you will need it for nine weeks and semester tests.)

Returned Work (You will put graded work in this section. This section will be cleaned out each nine weeks.)

You also will need to include lots of blank notebook paper in your binder.

If you don’t want to carry your entire notebook back and forth from home to school, you may put your reading log in a two pocket folder and carry it separately.
