Mr. Sturgill

This has been a great year at CHIS and it is hard to believe it is almost over! As we enter May, we have lots of fun activities planned. However, students don’t forget school is not quite out yet!

It is great to have another round of TCAPs behind us! Thank you to all the students for their hard work! Thank you to all the parents who made sure their children were here on time and had a good night’s sleep and breakfast! Thanks to all the teachers and staff who got everything together to help our students be as successful as possible!

I hope everyone has had an opportunity to view the newest addition to CHIS’s building-solar panels! They have been installed at no cost to the county, and will be used to sell electricity back to the power company. It is estimated that Hawkins County Schools will receive $140,000 from the energy generated by the panels here and at two other Hawkins County Schools. Click here to view the WJHL video!

I would like to apologize on behalf of the Red Cross for the technical difficulties they had during our blood drive. It has been rescheduled for May 9. If you would like to donate blood on that date, please contact the school office at (423) 357-0252.

Be sure to view the main page for updates and events that are coming up. We have field trips (May 4th for 6th grade and May 11 for 5th grade), a track meet (May 14), SWPBS reward day (May 16), Honors Day (May 17-8:30 for 5th grade and 10:30 for 6th grade), and other exciting things happening this month.

If your child has not had perfect attendance any 9 weeks period thus far, there is still a chance for him or her to be entered in the drawing to win the iPod. For each 9 weeks (including the last one!) your child has perfect attendance, he or she will have his or her name entered to win the iPod. If you child has perfect attendance for the entire year, that is four chances for him or her to win! Our attendance has been pretty good this year, so please keep of the good work!
