Veterans Day 2008

 Several HES students distributed poppies to the veterans in attendance at the Hawkins County's Veterans Day Program at the Rogersville Town Square on Tuesday, November 11, 2008.  HES students, accompanied by Mrs. Cole and Mrs. Barker, had made the poppies in Mrs. Cole's HES art classes in remembrance of Veterans Day. 

The Hawkins County Veterans Day Program, honoring the service of all Hawkins County veterans, was sponsored by the Joseph Rogers VFW Post, included a military fly-over by the Air Cavalry Squadron (information gathered from the Rogrsville Review).  The courthouse bell was rung 11 times at 11 a. m. signifying the end of fighting, the  armistice, during World War 1 on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, 1918.
