                  Veterans Day

       Hawkins Elementary students and staff observed Veterans Day on Monday, November 12.  Mr. Bellamy welcomed our veterans and visitors, and Ms. Price shared President Bush's Veterans Day Proclamation.  Guest speaker Mike Faulk shared with the students and staff the story of Francis Scott Key and The Star Spangled Banner.  Hawkins Elementary was privileged to have visiting veterans and visitors speak to different classes.  Johnny Adams, Robert Wininger, and Ferne Bellamy shared with the students about World War Two and the Homefront during World War Two.  Robert Hodge and Don Bellamy spoke about Vietnam, and Brian Gibson talked about Desert Storm.  Josh Hageman, a former Hawkins Elementary student, discussed Iraq with the students.  Josh Hageman was presented a framed memento honoring his service by a HES student, Eddie.  A sincere thank-you to every veteran from Hawkins Elementary.  (Click on images to view full size.)
