School Bus Driver Appreciation Day

                    September 18, 2008

"Each day, Hawkins County Schools 91 bus drivers rise early in the morning to start their daily route to transport over 6,300 students safely to school.  These drivers are the first smiling faces to greet our students each morning, and the last to give an encouraging word.  We appreciate their dedication to our students, even in intolerable heat, pouring rain, and icy conditions.  Their dedication to safety has made school bus transportation 40 times safer than riding in a family car.  Take the time to thank your child's bus driver for a job well done!" --  (quote from Hawkins County Schools website)

Hawkins Elementary faculty and staff also wish to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for the outstanding service that our bus drivers provide and for each act of kindness shown to our children throughout the school year.

Hawkins Elementary School students wrote thank-you letters and letters of appreciation for HES bus drivers.  Pictured are third-grade students from Ms. J. Holcomb's class presenting some of these letters to bus driver, Mrs. Dawn Shockley.  Mr. Bellamy expressed his thanks to each bus driver while delivering a candy bar to each bus driver.
