2^nd Annual CHMS 6^th AR Race For The Chase!

Kick Off Rally

Thursday, Sept. 25, @ 2:00 PM

1:50- Before entering the gym, students are given tickets by their 6^th period teachers.  Students are to write their names and their favorite book.  Teachers take up the tickets and give them to Mrs. Wines (blue) and Mrs. Walker (gold).

2:00               Blue students be seated on the blue side of the gym and gold students on the gold side.

Great Wagon Race  

“We could fill a wagon with the books we love!”

Books are lined up on the center line. 

A gold team teacher pulls Mr. Sturgill in a wagon to the center lane to pick up ONE book (Mr. Sturgill picks up the books).  The book is returned to the “book drop” on each side of the gym. A Blue team teacher will pull Mr. Christian.  The team that gets the most books to the drop wins.

The Great Tire Race

“We never get “tired” of reading.” 

Five students are drawn from the tickets on each team.  Mc’s will announce the students chosen to play.

Students will line up on the stage side of the gym.  They are to roll the tires from one side of the gym to the next student.  One hand must stay on the tire.

The Great Tiny Truck Race

“No challenge is too big or small for us!”

Five students from each team are drawn out to participate.  Each student is to relay while pushing a Tonka Truck down the gym.  They must keep one hand on the truck at all times.  The truck wheels must remain on the floor.

The Great Motto Race

“Let us shout out our love for reading!”

Mc’s announce our motto “We have a need for speed and a need to read!”  Mr. Sturgill and Mr. Christian will judge which team did the best job.

Mr. Christian waves the green flag.

Students return to 6^th period to decorate their personal race cars.

Weekly top readers cars will be displayed on the bulletin board in the hallway weekly.
