About the Teacher:
Hello! My name is Melissa Johnson, and I am the 5th and 6th Grade Language Arts and Math Teacher at Surgoinsville Middle School. This is my second year at S.M.S and my sixth year of teaching. I have a Master of Science degree in Special Education from the University of Tennessee. My husband is Michael Johnson, an engineer with a local company and a graduate of Tennessee Tech University. Before spending several years as a stay-at-home mom to our three children, I acquired teaching experience at the elementary and high school levels. My interests include traditional hand quilting, sewing, reading, crafts, listening to music and being the leader of a Hawkins County Girl Scout Troop. My family enjoys camping, hiking and traveling together.
