I have been librarian here at SMS since 1989. I feel a part of the community since I am on my second generation of students.

I enjoy reading myself and try to read as many of the books my students read as I can. We have many new books this year and I hope you will encourage your child to get as many of them as they can.

We do encourage students and teachers to participate in the Accelerated Reader Program. It helps test their comprehension and gives the teachers a way to see how much they improve as they read.

There is also a parent library available in the office with titles that could interest you.

On the lookout for READERS!

What's NEW!!!

The Warrior's Series

New American Girls

New Biographies and Nonfiction

Lots more!

The end of year is upon us with T-Caps on the horizon but we still have many more things to do before we can pack up for the summer.

Students will be publishing their own stories before the end of the year in a hard cover book. Each student will receive one copy of their book for free and other copies may be purchased. Information will be sent to you when we start on the books after T-Caps.

Also I would like to send a BIG THANKS to the Community Clothes Closet in Church Hill who has graciously donated new carpet for the library. It will be installed the first week of June. After 21 years the carpet we have is in desperate need of replacement and they responded to my request. THANK YOU soooooo much!
